What does it cost to hire an AI engineer in the Netherlands?
A senior AI engineer costs the gross annual salary (€78,000 to €107,000) plus the 8% holiday allowance and employer costs in the first year. Hiring through an agency adds a one-off fee: at Chase IT 20% of the gross annual salary for an exclusive assignment, €18,400 at a salary of €92,000.
Example
| Item | At a salary of €92,000 |
|---|---|
| Gross annual salary | €92,000 |
| Holiday allowance, 8% | €7,360 |
| Agency fee, exclusive, 20% (one-off) | €18,400 |
| Agency fee, non-exclusive, 23% (one-off) | €21,160 |
Employer contributions such as social premiums and pension come on top and depend on your collective agreement and pension scheme.
How the fee works
No cure, no pay: you only pay once the AI engineer starts. No upfront fees, and if someone leaves within 100 days, we find a replacement free of charge.
